To celebrate first Indian Astronaut Shri Rakesh Sharma going to space, Public Awareness about Gagayaan programme was organized from 3rd April to 9th April by Space Applications Centre and DECU in outreach coordination with Gujarat Council on Science &Technology (GujCOST), Gandhinagar and Gujarat Science City, Ahmedabad as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Each day of the programme witnessed unique events targeting different groups of participants, with new theme of the day. A theme talk was delivered on each day by expert scientists from SAC to enlighten different target audience and to encourage their talent and interest in scientific subjects.

Live Interaction with Wing Commander Rakesh Sharma through internet was the main highlight of the entire programme . It was a unique opportunity for the participants, especially for the students to interact with such a great personality.

More than 10000 participants of different age groups attended the event and were excited to see the Orbital and Gaganyaan Crew module. VSSE Space on wheels and static exhibitions were also held for the entire programme in Gujarat Science City.
