Navigation Subsystems

The first satellite for IRNSS will be launched in the year 2013 and the constellation of 7 satellites is needed to put up in space by 2015 and 11 satellites by 2017. Taking a normal life expectancy of each satellite to be around 7 years, 23 IRNSS (I-1K) satellites will have to be flown in the next 15 years.

The first 3 satellites will be realized inhouse and the remaining will be realized through industry. It is a great opportunity for industry (also the VCs or entreprenuers willing to setup industry) to come forward and deliver the subsytems or the critical technologies to SAC, Ahmedabad.

Typically an IRNSS payload consists following number of subsystems:

  • Antenna
