REMOTE SENSING APPLICATIONS

  • Under the National Jute Project of FASAL, three date Radarsat-2 Wide-2 dual polarisation data analysed and the forecast for jute acreage released in July, 2010.
  • Production forecast for jute crop for 2010 was made at state and national level.
  • Operational version of global vector winds from OS-2 Scatterometer generated for period from November 2009 to April 2010.
  • Final technical report for the project on snow & glacier studies, Phase-I prepared and submitted to MOEF, New Delhi.
  • Preliminary results of OCM-2 geophysical validation obtained using data from ten cloud free dates over the Lakshadweep Sea. The geophysical products generated after applying new calibration coefficient generated by sensor group of SAC. An overall improvement is observed in OCM estimated Chlorophyll- a values.
  • A software procedure has been transferred for data processing (DP) team to generate the land vegetation products from OCM-2 data. OCM-2 products on NDVI and SAVI vegetation indices are now under test and evaluation stage.
  • Work initiated to develop a CAL-VAL site at newly acquired land near SAC-BOPAL campus. Initial studies using the CARTOSAT-1 data to generate DEM to identify 300m x 300m area within acquired land are under progress.
  • Under Megha-Tropiques project, a Micro Rain Radar installed at CAL-VAL laboratory on Kavaratti Island.
  • Tool developed to load NRDB data on IGIS platform, using which the entire NRDB geo-database was loaded in IGIS environment.
  • Mineralogical map has been generated over a part of Dongargarh region using archived Hyperion data and Spectral Angle Mapper Classifier along with collected field spectra. [Image]
