Vendor Development
In accordance with the ISRO's policy of maximal utilisation of Industry capability, SAC has consciously nurtured Indian Industry to take up development / fabrication / testing / qualification / delivery of systems / hardware / software for space as well as ground use. Industries from different parts of India, specializing in varying fields such as microwaves, RF, digital, antennas, scientific software, image processing, data interpretation have contributed to SAC’s programmes and projects. C and Ku Receivers for INSAT and GSAT satellites, Transmit-Receive Modules, Power Amplifier Modules, multiplayer planar antenna, Power Conditioning and Processing Units and Digital subsystems for microwave remote sensing payload, Hybrid microcircuits for eletro-optic payloads, data products and stereo strip triangulation software for Cartosat have been delivered by industry through SAC-Industry tie up. Multilayer PCBs and various types of connectors from industry were qualified for space use.
Ongoing activities include Electronic power conditioner for TWTA, S-band switch matrix, Isolators and Circulators, metallisation of CFRP, ASIC and optical coating / lens assembly for electro-optic payloads and software development for GIS and Image processing modules. Industries situated in Ahmedabad regularly undertake PCB / MIC wiring and packaging of flight model packages in their premises in clean rooms certified by SAC and with components given from SAC.
Industry played major role in realizing a number of ground based hardware. Some examples are INSAT MSS Type-C and Type-D terminals, Data handling and checkout equipment for IRS payloads, Digital sound and data broadcast receiver and digital hardware for microwave remote sensing projects.

A large number of Industries in and around Ahmedabad contribute through fabrication of mechanical packages required for space and ground applications.
